Elan Valley Dark Skies
Less than three miles from Rhayader are the dark skies of the Elan Valley.
Fantastic scenery combines with star-filled skies to create an environment you can stare at in wonder.
Rhayader – the Outdoors Capital of Wales – is a great destination for active and adventure holidays. Make your activity as relaxing or as busy as you want - from a gentle walk through an oak woodland to careering round the largest cycle pump track in the UK. The town is also the home of the Red Kite and has played a pivotal role in the conservation of these spectacular birds.
There is also plenty on offer for anglers, with fishing for game and coarse fish in rivers, lakes and reservoirs. While, if star gazing appeals then look no further - a visit to the nearby Elan Valley and its spectacular dams is a must. The Elan Valley Estate achieved International Dark Sky Park status in 2015.
