Learn about your local Bees, and then draw them! No artistic ability required - art materials, support and refreshments included.
Janice Vincentt is the vice-county moth recorder for Breconshire and Radnorshire, as well as being an active member of our local natural history group, Rhayader By Nature. She runs a blog, Mid Wales Bees and Wasps, which is focused on sharing her passion for the 271 species of bee that we have here in the UK.
At this talk, you can expect to learn about the importance of bee conservation, the unique role that various species of wasp play in the local ecosystem, and the fascinating intricacies of the notorious hive mind. Janice will also be available to help you identify species and answer any questions. There will also be samples to observe through our illuminated magnifying glasses.
Suitable for ages 12 & up.
The drawing session is led by talented local artist Sorell Matei who is warm, supportive and will help you create something you love.
We will do a few warm-up exercises before diving into a longer session, so you can experiment around. No previous knowledge necessary! You will surprise yourself by the end of the day. You will be supported as you create something wonderful to take home.
