A moderate 7 mile walk with one off track grassland section and steep downslope. Starting at Dol y Mynach car park, we walk up the Rhiwnant Valley and make our way to the track heading towards the highest point on the Elan Estate, Drygarn Fawr, at 641m above sea level.

Weather permitting, we will be able to see the Irish Sea, and turning our heads we will be able to view the Black Mountains on the England/Wales border, therefore looking along a 55 mile diagonal line from one side of Wales to the other. Backtracking a little to the peak of Carreg yr Ast, we then head down into the upper Rhiwnant Valley.
This year we get up close and personal to the Mermaid Pool and the Poison Hole, through the rock-strewn landscape back to the start. Please bring a packed lunch and drinks. Meet at Dol y Mynach Car Park SN 900616.
